What is Integrative Medicine?

My personal journey started many years ago when slowly, patient after patient, I began to realize that as much as I wanted, I wasn't able to treat them in a way that was not only completely effective but at the same time was free of harmful side effects. I felt that while I did treat their ailments I was not able to treat the patient as a whole.

Therefore I decided that after working as a conventional gynecologist it was time to take my work to a higher level, to become an integrative women’s health specialist.

And so I began to learn with professionals in this field, from the United States and Europe.

Integrative Medicine combines traditional Western medicine with the alternative and complementary therapies.

According to Dr. Andrew Weil, one of the leading doctors in this field, “Integrative medicine is a healing-oriented therapy that takes into account the whole person (body, mind and soul)“

While conventional treatment is the only procedure in some cases for many ailments, there exist other ways which are less invasive and with no harmful side effects, which can be a much better option as a treatment. Even more so, one can complement the other.

The integrative doctor can have a much wider view of the health spectrum, because of his profound knowledge of the human body and of how it reacts to all different elements, creating a complete balance and harmony between body and mind, promoting wellness and at the same time restoring optimal health.
